Located in Eastern Rwanda on the border with Tanzania, Akagera National Park is the only savannah park in Rwanda managed by African Parks in partnership with Rwanda Development Board.
Akagera National Park wildlife safari gives opportunities of excellent wildlife sightings in Rwanda’s only savannah plains and home to several mammal species including lions, elephants, giraffes, hippos, kobs, zebras, bushbucks, waterbucks and the most recently introduced black rhinos from South Africa, making Akagera National Park officially a Big 5 Safari Destination. Also, Akagera is home to numerous bird species thriving in several habitats which include swamps, woodland, lakes and savannah.
Detailed Itinerary of 1 Day Akagera National Park Wildlife Safari
Today early morning, you will be picked up at your hotel in Kigali and be driven to Akagera National Park at around 5 am for your Akagera National Park Day Safari. From Kigali to Akagera National Park it is a drive of about 2 hours, arrive at the park from the southern gate to the park reception for a short briefing about the park. Enter the park and embark on a game drive towards the northern part of the park giving you opportunities of sights.
Be on a lookout for several wildlife including zebras, giraffes, buffaloes, waterbucks, rhinos, elephants, waterbucks, rhinos and the elusive leopard and recently introduced lions.

Most of your day in Akagera National Park is spent in the northern section of the park which has many wildlife because of the landscape and vegetation. The Akagera Game Drive can last about 6 hours depending on the animal sightings and interest.
Your Tour Guide will advise on your lunch, where you will be able to purchase lunch or carry packed lunch. Then, you will proceed with your game drive and exit Akagera via the Northern Gate later that evening.
